Modules, and why a screen is missing
The switches that decide how much of the product your business sees, who may move them, and how to tell "switched off" apart from "nothing here yet".
What a module is
A module is a chunk of the product turned on for your whole business. A small café should not have to look past an ERP it will never open, so the sidebar only carries what you have switched on.
Turning one off hides its screens for everyone in the business, not just for you.
The switches live on business settings, and only an owner can move them.
The floor
Billing is always on and has no switch. Every business bills; it is the product's floor.
The switches you have
- Inventory and menu ERP — recipes, purchasing, raw materials, stock counts, the dish planner's costing steps. On by default. Switching it off returns a billing-first sidebar.
- Settlement auditor — uploading aggregator settlement files and reading what came back short. Free on every plan.
- Multiple restaurants — the outlet switcher in the sidebar and the head-office console.
- Captain — the waiter handheld surface. This is an operating choice, not a paid tier.
- Guest conversations — the service intelligence screens.
Financials deliberately has no switch. It follows your plan rather than an opt-in, so a switch here would be a control that changed nothing when it was turned off — worse than no switch at all.
Three refusals you may meet
"Prove it again." Moving any of these asks for a recent second step if your account has two-step verification, because a module changes what your whole team can reach and what you are billed for.
"Your plan does not include this." Financials, multiple restaurants and guest conversations need the plan. Inventory and the auditor are free on every plan. During your first six months everything is granted, so a switch that works today may need a plan later — that is the launch window, not a bug.
"You are running more than one restaurant." Multiple restaurants cannot be switched off while you have more than one outlet. The outlet switcher is the only door to the others, so hiding it would strand them.
The thing that catches people out
A module that is off looks a lot like a feature with no data in it.
When a module is off, its screens are dropped from the sidebar and the surfaces that survive mostly render an empty list. Nothing says "this is switched off" on the empty screen. So an owner who was told the product tracks stock opens a raw-materials list, sees nothing, and concludes the feature does not work.
If a list you were expecting is empty, check the modules before you check anything else. It is the cheapest thing to rule out and the most common answer.
What switching a module off does not do
It does not delete anything. The rows stay exactly where they are and reappear the moment the module comes back on. Turning inventory off to simplify the sidebar for a month costs you nothing but the screens.
